History of Cha Cha
The cha-cha-cha, or simply cha-cha, is a dance of Cuban origin performed to the music of the same name. It was originally introduced by Cuban composer and violinist Enrique Jorrín during the 1950s. This rhythm was developed from the beginning danzón-mambo. The name was derived from the shuffling of the dancers’ feet.
Cost per Class (6 weeks):
• Members $70, Non-Members $80 (Online)
• Registration on day of class at dance hall: Members $75 for each, Non-Members $85
Please choose if you are participating as a Lead or Follow. In partner dancing, dancers seek to work together to create synchronized or complementary movements. The leader is largely responsible for initiating the movement, whereas the follower’s role is to maintain this movement.
We’re encouraging everyone to sign-up online to ease the burden on our volunteers on the day of registration. We understand not everyone is comfortable with online registration. You can still register on the day of class. If you would like to register early instead of online, see one of our Board Members to assist you during a practice session.
